BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: NSW Police Dive into Suburban Newcastle Waterway in Search for Evidence
In a relentless pursuit for clues, NSW Police divers have combed through a small waterway in suburban Newcastle amidst an ongoing investigation into the suspected murder of a young couple in Sydney’s east.
Jesse Baird and Luke Davies, missing since Sunday, are at the center of the probe, with a NSW Police constable, Beau Lamarre-Condon, now facing two counts of murder.
Authorities reveal that the 28-year-old constable, believed to have been in Newcastle on Thursday night, surrendered himself at an eastern Sydney police station on Friday.
Efforts to locate the victims’ bodies intensify, with a particular focus on tracing the movements surrounding a white van hired from Mascot on Monday evening.
As the investigation unfolds, a section of a street in Lambton, Newcastle, remains cordoned off, with two divers meticulously scouring nearby waters for crucial evidence.
Detective Superintendent Daniel Doherty of the Homicide Squad disclosed that a projectile and casing recovered from Mr. Baird’s Paddington residence match ballistically to a police-issued handgun.
While a significant amount of blood was found at the scene, the causes of death are yet to be confirmed.
Despite being a former partner of Mr. Baird, Mr. Lamarre-Condon has reportedly provided no assistance to the authorities in locating the missing individuals, Detective Superintendent Doherty revealed.
