Alleged Arsonist Faces Fresh Charges, Including Filming Unlawful Intimate Images

In a recent court appearance, 23-year-old Daniel Jay Tudor, previously on bail for alleged arson attacks, now confronts new serious charges. Apart from the three arson charges, Tudor is accused of intentionally recording intimate images without consent. The alleged incident took place on January 13 in Lostock, a rural town in Dungog.

Tudor’s legal troubles began in October last year when he was arrested for allegedly igniting a grass fire in Hunterview, Wattle Ponds. The temperature on that day rose into the mid-30s, with fire crews battling numerous blazes across the state during a heatwave. Following his arrest, Tudor faced charges of intentionally causing fire and reckless behavior regarding its spread.

The investigation, led by Strike Force Tronto detectives in collaboration with Hunter Valley police and the state’s arson unit, revealed two prior charges of similar offenses related to fires in Singleton. Tudor allegedly lit fires at Rose Point Park on August 11 and Sewerage Works Lane at Glenridding the following day before his arrest.

Strict bail conditions were imposed on Tudor, including staying at home unless in the immediate company of family or designated individuals and abstaining from alcohol. The new charges will be mentioned in Newcastle Local Court in three weeks, while the previous charges are adjourned until March. The case continues to unfold amid heightened scrutiny.
