Australian cricket great Andrew Symonds has died in a car accident near Townsville.

The accident apparently occurred at 2230 hours Saturday evening.
Symonds played 26 Test matches for Australia between 2004 and 2008, while appearing in 198 one-day internationals from his debut in 1998 through to 2009.
