Breaking News Update: Toronto Arrest Leads to Drug and Domestic Violence Charges

A 53-year-old man has been apprehended in Toronto amid allegations of drug trafficking and domestic violence, as confirmed by authorities today.

Yesterday, at approximately 12:30 PM (Monday, February 19, 2024), officers from Lake Macquarie Police District Proactive Crime Team and Northern Region High Risk DV Unit successfully detained the individual in a Donnelly Avenue parking lot.

During a thorough search, law enforcement reportedly discovered a substantial sum of cash in the suspect’s possession, along with the keys to a vehicle parked nearby. Subsequent inspection of the vehicle revealed a significant cache of illicit substances, including Cocaine, Cannabis, Gamma-hydroxybutyrate, and Methyl-Amphetamine.

The accused faces multiple charges, including two counts of Supplying prohibited drugs in commercial quantities, one count of Supplying prohibited drugs below commercial quantities but above indictable levels, one count of Possession of prohibited drugs, and one count of Suspected possession of stolen goods.

Moreover, the individual has been charged with offenses related to domestic violence, specifically one count of common assault, one count of Stalking/Intimidation with the intent to cause physical harm, and one count of Property destruction or damage, stemming from an alleged incident in New Lambton on February 13, 2024.

Currently, the suspect has been denied bail and is scheduled to appear before Toronto Local Court for further proceedings today. Stay tuned for more updates as this story unfolds.
