Cessnock Road Closures

🚧Road closures due to flooding🚧

UPDATE: 3.55pm Wednesday 6 July 2022

Cessnock City Council would like to advise of the following road closures due to flooding and water over roads. Signs have been/will be placed at the affected locations:

🚧Wilderness Road, Pokolbin
🚧George Downes Drive, Bucketty
🚧Broke Road, Pokolbin
🚧Tuckers Lane, Rothbury
🚧Old North Road, Rothbury
🚧Richmond Vale Road, Richmond Vale
🚧Congewai Road, Congewai (at Burgess Bridge)
🚧Thursby’s Road, Congewai (at Thursby’s Bridge)​
🚧Payne’s Crossing road, Wollombi (at Williams Bridge)
🚧Lomas Lane, Nulkaba (at bridge)
🚧Wills Hills Road, Pokolbin
🚧Great North Road, Laguna, near Blaxlands Arm Road
🚧Yango Creek Road, Wollombi & Laguna
🚧Milsons Arm Road, closed at Great North Road
🚧Watagan Creek Road, closed at Great North Road
🚧Upper Yango Creek Road Laguna
🚧Congewai Road, Congewai (closed at Millfield Road)
🚧Wollombi Road, Wollombi, at Narone Creek Bridge
🚧Cessnock Road at Testers Hollow
🚧Ekerts Road, Pokolbin
🚧Cedar Creek Road, Cedar Creek
🚧Oliver Street, Cessnock
🚧Wollombi Road, Millfield
🚧O’Connor’s Road, Nulkaba
🚧Metcalf Lane Sawyers Gully
🚧Alexandra Street Kurri, near Railway Parade intersection

The following roads have been reopened:

✅McDonalds Road, Pokolbin, from Deasys Road to Wine Country Drive
✅Fourth Street Weston, at the bridge
✅Quorrobolong Road, Cessnock/Kitchener
✅Alkira Avenue, Cessnock
✅Alpine Avenue, Cessnock
✅Ellalong Road, Ellalong
✅Pangari Parade, Cessnock
✅Robina Way, Cessnock
✅Neath Road, Neath & Kearsley
✅Government Road, Cessnock
✅Lovedale Road, Lovedale (at railway underpass)
✅Hermitage Road, Pokolbin
✅George Booth Drive, Buchanan
✅Sanctuary Road Ellalong/Paxton
✅Millfield Road, Millfield
✅Abernethy Road, Abernethy
✅Sandy Creek Road (between Quorrobolong Road and Ellalong, flooding at Forbes Bridge)
✅Kline Street, Weston

Residents are reminded never to drive through floodwater. Be aware of driving hazards such as mud, debris, damaged roads, fallen trees and branches. If driving conditions are dangerous, safely pull over away from trees, storm drains, low-lying areas and floodwaters.
