Construction commences on final stage of Branxton to Greta Shared Pathway

Cessnock City Council is pleased to announce the third and final stage of the Branxton to Greta Memorial Shared Pathway kicked off this week.

This exciting project involves the construction of a 3.3 kilometre long by 2.5-metre-wide shared pathway which will connect Branxton to Greta.

The scope of work includes road works, pedestrian crossings, a new bus stop, earthworks, concrete pathways, parking improvements, line marking, signage, and landscaping.

Cessnock City Mayor Jay Suvaal is looking forward to delivering this long-awaited shared pathway for the local community to enjoy.

“The Branxton to Greta Memorial Shared Pathway will provide a safe and convenient travel connection along the New England Highway for cyclists, pedestrians, and other non-motorised users,” Clr Suvaal said.

“Overall, the project’s successful completion will have a positive and lasting impact on the community, promoting healthier lifestyles, environmental sustainability and economic benefits for our local government area.”

The Branxton to Greta Memorial Shared Pathway has been made possible with funding from the Commonwealth Government’s Building Better Regions Fund.

Works are scheduled to be completed in the last quarter of the year, subject to weather conditions.
