This morning, authorities responded to reports of a significant robbery at the Commonwealth Hotel in Cooks Hill. At approximately a quarter to five, law enforcement officials were summoned to the scene where they discovered an injured individual on King St.

According to initial reports, two assailants, armed with a machete and a baseball bat, forcibly entered the establishment and confronted two employees. The perpetrators, described as Caucasian males in their twenties and wearing masks, absconded with a sum of cash following the altercation.

One of the employees sustained injuries while attempting to evade the perpetrators and has been transported to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition. Fortunately, the second employee did not sustain any physical harm.

As authorities continue their investigation, crime scenes have been established in the area. Union Street has been closed in both directions between Bull and King streets, while King Street is partially closed at the intersection of Union Street.
