Local Cessnock man and Olympic shooter and coal miner Dan Repacholi could become a Labor candidate for the Seat Hunter at the next federal election.
Joel Fitzgibbon confirmed this morning that he would not contest the next election and vacate the seat he has held since 1996.
Labors leader Anthony Albanese told Sky News that Dan Repacholi would be a strong candidate for the seat of Hunter but fell short of making an official announcement he also said that labor would look at all options to fill the boots of Joel Fitzgibbon.
