Dan Repacholi Fact Checked – It’s never been harder to see a doctor.

With candidates making all kinds of claims leading up to the election, it’s hard to know what’s true or false and most of us don’t have time to look into these claims.

Tonight we look at claim from Dan Repacholi that it’s never been harder to see a doctor, but the data tells a different story.

Labor candidate Dan Repacholi recently posted a claim to his Facebook that’s it’s never been harder to see a doctor. This claim did not see to add up with my own experience, as I’m almost always able to get an appointment within a few days, I’m less fussy and any doctor will do, now if you fussy and will only see the one doctor you may have to wait a little longer.

To check this claim made by Labor Candidate Dan Repacholi we headed over to the Australian Bureau of statistics and found some interesting states to prove Dan right or wrong. So we found some statistics on GP Patient Experience, you can view them here, just don’t take our word for it.

So we looked at statistics from when Labor was last in power in 2011/12 up until the most recent statistics published for 2020/21 and found that longer than acceptable wait had actually fallen from 26.9% to 16.6% under the current Liberal government.

ABS CHART DATA

So based on these statistics Labors Dan Rapacholi claim that it’s never been harder to see a GP is completely FALSE based on surveys from the ABS longer than acceptable wait times have dropped from 26.6% under labor to 16.6% under the Liberals.

Statistics provided by the abs can be found here
