FLIGHT JQ474 FROM MELBOURNE’S COVID HOTSPOT TO NEWCASTLE TAKES OFF

Flight JQ474 has taken off from the centre of Melbournes covid-19 hotspot, the plane can hold a maximum of 180 passengers, and as of 10am this morning there was only 1 seat available.

Jetstar does have a Covid-19 plan and says contracting Covid-19 in a plane is relatively low. Jetstar says they are social distancing boarding by staggering the boarding procedures to prevent overcrowding and extra cleaning is happening on all flights. However the risk for people leaving Melbournes hotspots, already having Covid-19 without knowing is real and the potential to spread the virus once they arrive.

NSW has just announced people found in NSW from the 26 subburbs that have been locked down could be fined $11,000 or face gaol time but this has come to late as we know of another flight that landed in Ballina this morning from Melbourne.

The flight is due to land at Newcastle airport at 2:50pm this afternoon.
