Hungry Jack’s Submits Application for New Restaurant in Wallsend

In a bid to expand its presence in the Newcastle area, Hungry Jack’s has submitted a development application (DA) for a new restaurant in Wallsend. Following the closure of its Jesmond location last year, the fast-food chain is eyeing a prime spot next to the Salvos store.

The proposed restaurant, expected to cost over $2.5 million, will be built from the ground up at the intersection of Douglas Street. Plans include ample car parking and signage, aiming to deliver an enhanced dining experience for patrons.

This isn’t the first attempt by Hungry Jack’s to establish a presence in Wallsend. Previous plans were rejected in 2014, but a successful appeal to the Land and Environment Court has reignited the project. However, the initial consent lapsed in 2017, prompting the company to revisit the proposal.

If approved by the Newcastle Council, the new Hungry Jack’s outlet would operate 24/7, offering round-the-clock service to customers seven days a week. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
