Hunter coal mines accused of faking quality reports

Independent federal MP Andrew Wilkie has made an extraordinary claim in parliament.

He used his parliamentary privileges to accuse Australian coal companies of faking reports to make their coal look cleaner than it really is.

With the aim to boost prices and reduce the amount coal rejected overseas.

Two Hunter Mines Glencore and Peabody are allegedly implicated in the documents seen by independent federal MP Andrew Wilkie.

Dan Blocker Repacholi who refuses to speak to independent media in his electorate did provide a quote to the ABC.

“At the end of the day, they’re unfounded allegations made by an MP under parliamentary privilege,”

“I think we just have to wait to see what the Australian Securities and Investment Commission comes back with and then take it from there.” Dan Blocker Repacholi.

Mr. Repacholi stated that his party would wait for a detailed briefing from the Australian Securities and Investment Commission before making any further comments.

If the claims by Independent federal MP Andrew Wilkie are true this could have a profound effect on our ability to sell coal on the international market
