Maitland Council Pushes for Moratorium on Offshore Windfarms

Maitland Council Pushes for Moratorium on Offshore Windfarms

In a recent development at the Maitland City Council, our motion advocating for a moratorium on the construction of windmills off Illawarra and The Hunter has been approved.

A moratorium, in this context, signifies a temporary suspension or halt on the proposed activity. This decision was made with the intention of addressing community concerns and allowing for further discussion and assessment of potential impacts before proceeding with the construction of windmills.

Notably, councillors Aitchison, Baker, Fisher, and Whiting opposed the motion, while Cr Mitchell was absent during the vote.

We appreciate the support and positive energy from everyone involved. Thank you.
