Medicare Crisis, GP fees now greater than rebate

For the first time in Medicare’s history GP Fees are more than the rebate, meaning doctors who continue to bulk bill are losing out on every appointed and out of pocket costs for patients are increasing.

A bulk billing doctor’s appointment will cost around $41 for a standard appointment and Medicare rebate is $39.26

There is mounting pressure on Anthony Albaneses government to act quickly and increase the Medicare rebate as out of pocket expenses explode.

The Prime Minister says 50 new urgent care clinics for patients with non-life threatening injuries will help ease the burden on the health system.

The urgent care clinics will not open before July and location sites are yet to be confirmed.
