Mini Tornado In Quorrobolong

Around 5pm emergency services, we’re called to what can only be described as a mini-tornado in the Hunter Valley near Quorrobolong.

Dozens of trees came down in a corridor about 400 meters wide from Barraba Lane across the paddocks, over Quorrobolong Rd and east along Coney Creek Lane. There were dozens of trees down, many snapped off about half way up.

We were so amazed at the sight awaiting us on Quorrobolong Road and so occupied with clearing the road that we forgot to take any “before” photos.

Quorrobolong RFS

Quorrobolong RFS together with Millfield RFS brigade, Cessnock VRA, a number of local residents, one with a tractor and loader, and a backhoe from Cessnock City Council were kept well occupied for a couple of hours moving a lot of fallen timber off the road. Mulbring RFS brigade also headed out to assist but were not needed.
