Muswellbrook fire bomber caught and refused bail

A man has been charged following investigations into an alleged deliberately-lit house fire in Muswellbrook.


About 4am on Sunday 6 November 2022, emergency services were called to Tamar Way, Muswellbrook, following reports of a house fire.

The residents extinguished the fire with the assistance of a neighbour, with one resident sustaining minor burns to their shoulder and back.

Strike Force Conferta was formed by officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District to investigate the fire, which is alleged to have been deliberately lit.

Following inquiries, a 20-year-old man was arrested at an address in Muswellbrook about 2pm yesterday (Friday 27 January 2023).

The man was taken to Muswellbrook Police Station where he was charged with damage property by fire, threaten to destroy/damage other persons property and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic).

He was refused bail to appear in Newcastle Local Court today (Saturday 28 January 2023).
