News Update: Unmarked Police Car Crashes and Bursts into Flames in Mayfield

In a morning incident at Mayfield, an unmarked police car collided with a Holden Rodeo on Vine Street around 7:30 AM, causing a fiery aftermath. The crash led to the blockage of Vine Street, impacting peak-hour traffic for approximately an hour.

Emergency services, including NSW Ambulance Paramedics, promptly responded to the scene. The driver of the Holden, assessed on-site, reported no injuries at the time. However, two police officers were evaluated for minor injuries caused by the deployment of the airbag.

The situation escalated as the police vehicle caught fire following the collision. Fire and Rescue NSW Firefighters worked diligently to extinguish the blaze, but unfortunately, the police car was completely destroyed in the process.

Inquiries into the incident are currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash. Photo credit goes to Luke Priestley.
