A man has died following a motorcycle crash in the Upper Hunter overnight.
About 10.15pm (Tuesday 20 July 2021), emergency services were called to Old Scone Road and Macartney Street, Merriwa, after reports a Triumph motorcycle with a rider and a pillion passenger had left the road and thrown both persons from the bike.
The rider died at the scene; he is yet to be formally identified, however is believed to be aged in his 50s.
The passenger – a 29-year-old man – received minor injuries and was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.
Officers from Hunter Valley Police District attended and established a crime scene.
An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the crash
