Queenslanders could soon have bugs on the menu

It’s been circulating around conspiracy websites and conspiracy minded people for the past few years that food supplies would start run short and you would need to consume bugs to survive.

Today we are a step closer to that possibility with QLD health testing a range of insect products for Queensladers to consume in the near future. I’m not saying there is food shortage right now in Australia, but as the war continues to rage in Ukraine it will definitely have an effect on the global fertilizer supplies.

Environmental Health Officer Hazel said the Public Health Unit was keen to keep a close eye on this developing industry.

“Products being tested come from NSW and WA, however, insect farming is growing in Queensland and the Public Health Unit has a role monitoring suppliesupplierse goods to ensure they are creating these products safely before they make it to the family dinner table,” Hazel said.

“Following the test results, we work closely with suppliers on anything that needs to be rectified, so you can be sure before you munch on those crickets that they are safe for consumption.”

The question is are you willing to consume bugs?
