IPort Stephens SES were responded to a ring stuck on a finger, at Bucketts Way.
The member of public had been adhering to frequent hand washing recommendations, which had inadvertently caused a dermatitis under her ring, causing the finger to swell.
She had tried to remove the ring herself using several different methods including soap, oil, string and elastic – unfortunately to no avail.
NSW SES Rescue operators used a ring cutter and a protective sheet to protect the finger whilst very carefully cutting the ring off. She was freed at last, and the ring will be easily repaired by a jeweller who will can solder the cut back together.
