Telehealth Extended until march 2021

Since the beginning of the Covid pandemic the Government has made changes to telehealth allowing Medicare rebates for telehealth consultations which was set to end of the 30th of September.

The National Rural Health Alliance, the peak body for rural health in Australia, welcomed the Australian Government’s expansion of Medicare rebates for telehealth consultations until 31 March 2021.

Connectivity remains a big issue in rural Australia, and we need to be improving internet infrastructure in the bush otherwise telehealth is difficult or impossible for patients and health practitioners to use,” said Dr O’Kane

Telehealth means no more sitting in a waiting room full of sick people spreading their germs to you is probably the biggest advantages to telehealth.

Being able to get scripts filled from the comfort your own is just amazing, however, doctors are warning that important check ups cannot be done via telehealth such as checking blood pressure levels.

Although telehealth is great for some things doctors also recommended booking for a face to face to consult for time to time.
