The Fuel Tank Launched 30 Metres Across The Pacific Hwy Belmont South

49 YEAR OLD MALE CHARGED WITH MID RANGE PCA AFTER COLLISION – BELMONT SOUTH

Around 4:59 am Saturday 29 February police allege a 49 year old male driver was driving north on the Pacific Highway, Belmont South.

Near the intersection of Harry Street the vehicle has left the roadway, striking the Armco railing before colliding with a power pole. The force of this collision was enough to throw the fuel tank of the vehicle 30 meters to the opposite side of the Pacific Highway.

Police and Ambulance personnel attended and the male produced a Provisional Drivers Licence to police. Police breath tested the male and the test gave a positive reading to alcohol.

The male was arrested and taken to the Belmont Police Station where a breath analysis gave the reading 0.090 – the Mid Range.

The male was charged with Mid Range PCA and his licence was immediately suspended.
