This one tweet shows Adam Bandt has no clue

Adam Bandt took to Twitter to sound the alarm for all students with HECS debts who will be forced to pay billions more as interest rates rise.

This is unsustainable. We must wipe out student debt, said Mr Bandt.

This sounds like an absolute disaster for students who will be crippled with rising rates. But there’s just one problem that someone needs to sit down and explain slowly and clearly to Adam Bandt: HECS debts do not accrue interest.

HECS debts are linked to the indexation rate used by the ATO, which is based on the CPI figures of the preceding two years.

Mr Bandt went to the last election promising to abolish student debts if the Greens held the balance of power, but instead he has just shown the country that he has no idea what he is talking about.
