Woman airlifted to hospital after another serious crash at Lake Macquarie

A woman was airlifted to hospital after a serious crash at Lake Macquarie this morning.

About 6.15am (Wednesday 21 October 2020), emergency services were called to the M1 Pacific Motorway at Morisset, following reports a Toyota Hi-Ace van had left the roadway and crashed.

We were told the Toyota and a Heavy Vehicle were both travelling north when the Heavy Vehicle commenced to change lanes. The Toyota driver took evasive action and lost control causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and roll.

The Toyota driver, a 36-year-old woman, was trapped for a short time before being released by Fire and Rescue NSW.

She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital where she had her injuries treated.

The truck driver, a 34-year-old man, was not injured.

We have commenced an investigation into this crash and we are urging anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or http://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
