Yet another gun incident near Cessnock.

On Wednesday the 5th of February a woman allegedly pulled a gun out on a resident in Aberdare shortly after being door knocked by the Garvan Institute.

An hour after door knockers for the Garvan Institute knocked on the door of man in Aberrdare allegedly 2 vehicles returned to the house with Victorian number plates on the cars and pulled up out front of his house, the man went outside to investigate what these people were up to, two men got out of the car an assaulted the man.

A lady jumped out of the car at this point and pulled out what look liked a gun and pointed it at the man before all 3 left the scene.

Police were called and attended the address and questioned the man and neighbours who witnessed this crime.

One vehicle was a small hatch back and the other was an SUV both cars had Victorian number plates

The Garvan Institute has released a statement this morning confirming they did conduct a door to door campaign in the area and believes there staff are not involved in the incident.

Regarding the post yesterday about Garvan Institute fundraisers, I want to reassure the community that our fundraisers were not involved in the incident.
I’m the Deputy Director of the Garvan Research Foundation at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. The incident occurred over an hour after our team of fundraisers had left the Aberdare neighbourhood.
We have spoken with the Cessnock police this morning and they do not have any suspicion or concern that our fundraisers were involved.
