Woman who licked random powder of a $20 note shocked she returned a positive cocaine result.

On Sunday 17th July 2022 officers from Tuggerah Lakes Highway Patrol were patrolling the Pacific Highway at Wyong. Shortly before 2:30pm they detected a Holden commodore traveling above the speed limit and weaving in and out of the marked lane way.

The vehicle was stopped with a 39 year old Lake Haven woman identified as the driver. A subsequent oral fluid test returned a positive result for cocaine. The woman claimed a friend had given her a $20 note half an hour prior with white powder on it. She informed officers she had licked the note in an attempt to identify the unknown substance, explaining that must be the reason for the positive result.

The woman was subsequently arrested for breach of bail offences and further testing before being conveyed to Wyong Police station.

She was also issued two penalty notices for exceeding the speed limit and crossing unbroken lane lines.

The woman is due to appear again in Wyong Local Court on the 27th July 2022.

The secondary sample obtained at Wyong Police Station will be analysed with a further charge likely in the near future.
