350 people attend Corranbong RFS Bushfire Meeting

350 people attend community bushfire meeting at Corranbong RFS yesterday afternoon for the bushfire meeting, so many people they had to run sessions.

The amount people who are attending such meetings just shows how serious people are taking the fire danger this season.

Key points from the meeting

  • Tuesday is a day of Total Fire Ban – don’t light a fire. We’ll have to come and put it out and you’ll get a huge fine
  • There are three alert levels for fires – Advice,Watch & Act, Emergency Warning.
  • In an emergency you may receive an SMS or phone call from the RFS this is an automated system and everyone is automatically enrolled You cannot opt out.
  • Obtain your information and updates from official government sources – the NSW Rural Fire Service website, Facebook page, Twitter account and Fires Near Me NSW app
  • DO NOT rely on our Facebook page for updates. This page is run by volunteers who may not be in a position to post timely updates.
  • YOU are responsible for your own safety.
  • Do the maths, there will never be enough fire trucks for each property
  • Our local Greg Piper MP has worked diligently today to provide a list of venues that will act as emergency evacuation centres if required: Doyalson RSL, Toronto Workers Club, Club Macquarie (Argenton), Wests Cardiff
  • FOR HORSES: Justin Rumore, President of the Morisset Lake Macquarie Show, has kindly offered use of the Morisset Show Grounds as an evacuation point for horses. For more information visit his post in the C Bong Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/groups/CBong2265/
