CESSNOCK COUNCILLOR JAY SUVAAL BACKFLIPS ON PARKING POLICY

Cr Jay Suvaal pictured above standing in the middle of the road after completing a triple backflip with a perfect dismount is putting forward a motion to repeal the parking policy that Cr Jay Savaal voted in favor of, which Cessnock City Council went on to adopt the policy.

See the image below of councillors who blindly voted in favor of a policy they did not understand and then requested a training day to understand the policy, only to realize they don’t have jurisdiction to set road rules in NSW.

The new parking policy is designed to bring council rules in line with the NSW Road Rules and closing a potential legal loophole when councils issue fines for parking on the nature strip.

But regardless this policy should not exist as these laws are covered by the NSW Road Rules which councils can not override.

Cr Jay Suvaal says that parking decision should be made at local level and not by the state government. No Jay these rules are set by the state so they are consistent throughout NSW, what you want, would only cause mass confusion for drivers who would need to know every councils local rules they visit.

Cr Jay Savaal is right the policy should be repealed, but id also demand that rate payers are refunded for time wasted on a parking policy council has no jurisdiction over.
