Social Media identifies thief in less than an hour.

Newcastle district police posted a photo of a wanted man in connection to a theft at Kotara about 2 hours ago.

Within 1 hour police had a positive ID on the man from a person who saw his face on Facebook. This shows the power of social media in policing and locating wanted people.

We have received a few email complaints about our crime section and posting photos of the wanted people, basically saying it would have a negative impact on the persons mental health. Yes I see how seeing your face splashed over Social Media may increase your anxiety, but my position is don’t commit a crime if you don’t want me to make your wanted poster.

However, not all people are guilty of a crime they might just know something about a crime and that could be enough to make you wanted.
