A 23 year old wanted man has been arrested following a stealing offence at a shopping centre in Kotara.
About 4:15pm last Wednesday (6 May 2020) a male was witnessed to enter a retail store at a shopping centre in Kotara. While in the store the male was seen to place a “Tommy Hilfiger” men’s handbag 👜 down his pants, leaving the store without making payment for it.
Police were contacted who located the male at a bus stop on Lexington Parade. He was arrested and searched where the stolen bag was located, along with an implement used to remove security tags.
The 23 year old Mayfield West man, who was wanted on outstanding arrest warrants, was taken to Newcastle Police Station. He was charged with stealing and the warrants finalised, before facing Newcastle Court on 7 May 2020. He has since been given conditional bail to reappear on 25 May.
