News Alert: Man Arrested After Police Operation at Port Stephens
On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, a 41-year-old man was charged following a police operation at Port Stephens. The officers, accompanied by Raptor North officers, conducted Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO) compliance checks at a facility in Swan Bay at around 8:30 am. Upon arrival, the man allegedly attempted to flee but was apprehended after a pursuit.
During a search, police found the man in possession of quantities of drugs, luxury watches, and over $14,000 in cash. Following further investigations, officers executed a crime scene warrant at the facility later that day, where they seized 28 tablets of drugs, a bottle containing liquid believed to be a prohibited substance, and two mobile phones.
The 41-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with offenses including dealing with stolen goods, possession of prohibited substances, and handling proceeds of crime. He was refused bail and is scheduled to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.
