In a recent video, Councilor Ian Olsen voiced his frustrations with the current state of affairs within the council, drawing attention to a lack of responsiveness to community concerns and infrastructure issues. Olsen particularly highlighted the inadequate communication from fellow Councilor Burke, stressing the need for improved accountability and engagement with constituents.
Olsen Pressed Councilor Burke for an answer to a question taken on notice, However Councilor Burke seemed to not know the question.
“When you take a question on notice. You have to give an answer. Simple answer was yes, I’ll support the people who he was elected to represent.
Expressing discontent with the dominance of political parties in local governance, Olsen emphasized the necessity for greater independence and genuine representation within the council. He criticized the current Labor-controlled council, citing what he seem as poor leadership, a disconnect from community issues, and a concerning lack of transparency in decision-making processes.
Olsen alpogised if his remarks upset anyone.
“I’m sorry if any person’s offended by my comments, but I have to, I’m entitled to have an opinion on what’s going on with your counsel? I surely just because one person gets offended shouldn’t cost our council but approximately 35,000.” Said Cr Olsen
