Breaking News: Fatal Crash West of Bathurst
A 20-year-old man has tragically died following a two-vehicle crash this morning in the Central Tablelands, about 12 kilometers west of Bathurst.
Emergency services were called to the scene on the Mitchell Highway near Dunkeld shortly after 7:30 AM today, Monday, 12 August 2024. Despite efforts, the young driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three other individuals—a female driver and her two passengers, a male and a female—were trapped in their vehicle before being extricated by rescue teams. NSW Ambulance paramedics treated them at the scene for varying injuries. The two women were airlifted to Liverpool Hospital, while the male passenger was transported to Orange Health Service by road for further treatment.
Officers from Chifley Police District have established a crime scene and initiated an investigation. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
All westbound lanes of the Mitchell Highway remain closed near Marys Lane, with motorists advised to divert via the Mid-Western Highway to Blayney and then Milthorpe Road to rejoin the highway at Shadforth.
