
Tragedy on the Mitchell Highway: 200 Sheep Killed in Devastating Truck Fire
In a shocking early morning incident, 200 sheep were killed in a catastrophic truck fire on the Mitchell Highway near Girilambone, north of Nyngan. Emergency services were called to the scene around 12:50 am today (Saturday, 7 September 2024) after reports of a road train engulfed in flames. Responding officers from the Central North Police District found the truck ablaze, with NSW Fire & Rescue crews battling to extinguish the fire. Unfortunately, none of the sheep on board survived the inferno. The truck driver, a 32-year-old man, escaped unharmed. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the devastating fire....
