A driver has been charged following a single-vehicle crash earlier this month on the M1 Pacific Motorway in Wootton, in the state’s north.
Emergency services responded shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday, 11 October 2024, following reports that a green Volkswagen van had allegedly collided with the centre median strip barrier, causing the vehicle to roll over. The van subsequently caught fire, which was promptly extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW.
The 33-year-old female driver and a 27-year-old male passenger were transported to John Hunter Hospital for treatment and have since been discharged. Police seized the van for forensic examination as part of the investigation.
After thorough inquiries, police arrested the 33-year-old woman in the St George area today (Wednesday, 30 October 2024). She was taken to St George Police Station and charged with negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm. She has been issued a court attendance notice and is due to appear at Forster Local Court on Wednesday, 11 December 2024.
