A man has been charged with attempted murder and assaulting police following an incident in Mayfield earlier this month. About 4.10pm on Saturday 15 February 2025, police were called to Hanbury Street, Mayfield, following a concern for welfare. Upon arrival at the scene, a man ran from a unit block towards police and allegedly assaulted one of the officers with a bladed tactical shovel. A taser was deployed which was unsuccessful, and the man was shot by police. Officers immediately rendered assistance to the man prior to the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics.
