Police are appealing for public assistance after a series of bike thefts from a secure apartment garage in Honeysuckle, Newcastle, over the weekend.
Residents say the offender forced entry into the complex — which has two fob-access garage doors — by breaking into one garage and damaging a fence to reach the other.
The first incident occurred on Friday night, when several bicycles were stolen. The man allegedly returned at around 3am on Saturday night, taking more bikes.
The thefts have impacted multiple residents in the popular Newcastle harbourside precinct, an area known for its high-density apartment living and cycling-friendly waterfront.
Authorities are warning Newcastle and Hunter Region residents to be vigilant and ensure bikes are securely locked, even inside garages, as police continue their investigation.
Anyone with information, dashcam, or CCTV footage that could identify the suspect is urged to contact Newcastle Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Reports can be made anonymously.
