Sex Crimes Squad detectives have charged a 37-year-old man following the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in Newcastle earlier this month. Police say the girl was approached by an unknown man about 1.30am on Friday 15 August while waiting at Hamilton Train Station. It’s alleged the man followed her from the station before sexually assaulting her on Fern Street, Islington. The teenager was taken to hospital for assessment, and Strike Force Keyneton was established by the State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad.
