
Hunter Valley Shaken Awake by Early Morning Earthquake
Residents across the Hunter were jolted awake after an earthquake struck near Mount Thorley in the early hours of this morning. The 2.5 magnitude quake hit around 3:50am, with Geoscience data indicating it occurred at a shallow depth of approximately 3km beneath the Singleton Council area. While the tremor was relatively minor, earthquakes at shallow depths can often be felt more strongly by locals, sparking early morning concern across parts of the region.
