Residents across the Hunter were jolted awake after an earthquake struck near Mount Thorley in the early hours of this morning. The 2.5 magnitude quake hit around 3:50am, with Geoscience data indicating it occurred at a shallow depth of approximately 3km beneath the Singleton Council area.
