A 15-year-old boy is set to face court today after being charged over the alleged possession of extremist material in the state’s west.
Police from the New England Police District launched an investigation in December 2025 following reports a teenager was accessing extremist content online.
On Friday, officers – including members of the Moree Crime Prevention Unit, General Duties, and the Criminal Investigation Unit – executed a Commonwealth warrant at a home in Moree.
During the search, police allegedly seized a mobile phone, a ballistic-style vest, and several notebooks.
The teenager was arrested and taken to Moree Police Station, where he was charged with using a carriage service to possess violent extremist material and possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit.
He was refused bail and is scheduled to appear before a children’s court today.
Police say there is no ongoing threat to the community.
