Raptor Squad Targets Bandidos in High-Visibility Operation Near Newcastle
A major police operation has seen dozens of members and associates of the Bandidos outlaw motorcycle gang stopped and inspected across the Hunter region.
On Saturday, 25 April 2026, officers from the NSW Police Raptor Squad, assisted by Port Stephens-Hunter Police District, Traffic and Highway Patrol, and the Dog Unit, carried out a high-visibility crackdown across Port Stephens and the Hunter Valley.
The operation focused on anti-social behaviour, traffic offences, and organised crime activity, with police establishing checkpoints at Beresfield and Salt Ash.
During the operation, 90 Bandidos OMCG members and associates were stopped for road compliance inspections, as well as roadside breath and drug testing.
Police issued a total of 86 traffic infringements and identified 32 major vehicle defects. Officers also conducted 57 personal searches and 19 vehicle searches, with six drivers returning positive drug tests.
Raptor Squad Commander, Detective Acting Superintendent Brad Abdy, said the operation forms part of an ongoing effort to disrupt and dismantle outlaw motorcycle gangs across New South Wales.
“Operations like this require meticulous planning, strong intelligence, and seamless coordination across multiple police units,” he said.
“We want the community to know we are actively targeting those who believe they can operate outside the law or intimidate others.
“NSW Police will continue to apply pressure until these groups understand there is no safe haven for their activities.”
