Federal Member for Hunter, Dan Repacholi, has confirmed he is seeking urgent information following reports a young man from the Hunter region was involved in an incident aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla near Greece earlier today.

Mr Repacholi said the situation is causing significant distress for the man’s family, friends and the wider community, with growing concerns for his safety and wellbeing.

He confirmed he is in contact with the office of Foreign Minister Penny Wong, as well as relevant authorities, in an effort to urgently clarify the young man’s whereabouts and condition.

“My thoughts are with his loved ones at this time,” Mr Repacholi said.
