Five new police officers will be deployed across the Hunter and Lake Macquarie regions following the attestation of 349 recruits at Goulburn today.
According to Cessnock MP Clayton Barr, the latest intake will see two officers assigned to the Hunter Valley Police District and three officers to the Lake Macquarie Police District, further strengthening frontline policing in the area.
The new deployments bring the total number of additional officers allocated to the region to 75 since the Minns Labor Government came to office.
Barr said the increase reflects a range of recruitment and retention initiatives, including a paid study program designed to attract new applicants, a recent police pay rise, and targeted schemes such as “Be A Cop In Your Hometown,” which encourages recruits to serve in their local communities. The Professional Mobility Program has also been credited with bringing experienced officers into NSW.
The new recruits are expected to bolster frontline capacity and support ongoing policing operations across the region.
Class 368 has now officially attested, joining the NSW Police Force.
