A Newcastle City Police Officer has been assaulted overnight following a generally well behaved long weekend across Newcastle. About 11.00pm Monday 8 June 2020, police attended a call for assistance relating to an intoxicated male behaving in an offensive manner outside a Hotel on Beaumont Street, Hamilton. Police spoke to the 44 year old Newcastle man before issuing him a move-on direction for being intoxicated and disorderly in a public place.
