Cessnock Liberals Confirm Absence of Candidates for Upcoming Council Election
The Cessnock Liberal team has announced with regret that there will be no Liberal candidates on the ballot for the upcoming council election scheduled for 14 September 2024. This decision follows the failure of the Liberal head office to submit the necessary paperwork to the NSW Electoral Commission before the close of nominations.
The Cessnock Liberal team attributes this oversight to issues at the Sydney head office, rather than any shortcomings of the local team. The four incumbent Liberal Councillors—Paul Dunn (Ward A), John Moores (Ward B), Karen Jackson (Ward C), and Paul Paynter (Ward D)—have been dedicated public servants, committed to their roles and the community they serve.
Despite the absence of candidates on the ballot, the four councillors express their deep appreciation for the community’s steadfast support throughout their tenure. They remain eager to continue contributing positively to the local area, and are hopeful for future opportunities to serve.
