In 1953, the City’s Labor Councillors fought a long and bitter campaign against their conservative opponents to make Newcastle Ocean Baths free for all.

This evening, Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelms and her Labor colleagues took the opportunity to reaffirm that commitment to ensure that Newcastle and Merewether Ocean Baths remain safe, free public facilities, accessible to all Novocastrians regardless of socio-economic status, gender, age, mobility or background.
