Former One Direction Star Liam Payne Found Dead in Buenos Aires

Former One Direction member Liam Payne has tragically died at the age of 31. The British singer was found in the courtyard of the Casa Sur Hotel in the Palermo neighborhood of Buenos Aires after reportedly falling from the third floor around 5 PM local time. Emergency services confirmed Payne’s death, stating he suffered injuries “incompatible with life” after a 14-meter fall.

TMZ reported that earlier in the day, Payne was seen acting erratically in the hotel lobby, where emergency services were called due to concerns over an “aggressive” male. Payne was said to have smashed a laptop and was carried back to his room prior to the incident.

Payne, who shares a seven-year-old son with UK singer Cheryl Cole, had been dating influencer Kate Cassidy since October 2022. Reports indicate Cassidy left Argentina to return to Florida days before Payne’s death. Payne had recently reunited with former bandmate Niall Horan in Argentina, where they attended Horan’s concert.

Liam Payne rose to fame as part of One Direction after competing on The X Factor in 2010. The band went on to become one of the best-selling boy bands in history before their separation in 2015. Payne struggled with mental health issues in recent years, revealing in 2023 that he had spent 100 days in a wellness clinic and had been sober for six months.
