Emergency services have responded to a serious collision in Maitland this morning involving a car and motorbike. The incident occurred shortly after 6:30 a.m. near the intersection of High Street and Regent Street.
NSW Ambulance reports that the motorbike rider, a man in his 50s, sustained significant injuries to his right leg. He was initially transported by road to Rutherford Airport, where the Hunter’s Westpac Rescue Helicopter is set to airlift him to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.
High Street is currently closed to traffic between Regent and Hannan Streets as emergency crews work at the scene.
