Thursday, 15 August 2024
In today’s court proceedings, 20-year-old Jessie Waeger, who was involved in a serious hit-and-run crash in Greta last week, was identified and granted conditional bail. The crash left a 17-year-old girl with severe injuries.
Waeger, who appeared via video conference from custody, entered pleas of guilty to multiple charges, including dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving, and operating an unregistered and uninsured vehicle. He pleaded not guilty to the charge of failing to stop and assist after the crash.
Magistrate K. Hockey granted Waeger conditional bail with several strict requirements, including daily reporting to Singleton Police Station, a curfew, and restrictions on driving. His next court appearance is scheduled for 26 September 2024, at Singleton Local Court.
Waeger must remain at his home, only allowed to leave for specific purposes such as reporting to the police, attending court, or in case of a medical emergency. Additionally, an acceptable person must enter into a bail security agreement with a $5,000 deposit to ensure compliance.
The case will continue next month, with Waeger facing further legal proceedings.
