A 33-year-old man has been charged with multiple domestic violence offences following an intense police operation in Boolaroo.
At approximately 10:30 am on Monday, 9 September 2024, Lake Macquarie Police attended a residence on Creek Reserve Road to locate the man, who was wanted in connection with domestic violence allegations. Upon arrival, police were informed that the man was at the rear of the property. However, as officers approached, the suspect fled by jumping over a back fence into a neighboring property.
Over the course of several hours, police and members of the public spotted the man multiple times as he ran through properties, jumped fences, and attempted to evade capture. At around 2:00 pm, the suspect was sighted once again. With the assistance of the NSW Police Dog Unit, he was located and apprehended in a backyard on Fifth Street.
The man has been charged with two counts of intimidation, two counts of using an offensive weapon with intent, and one count of goods in custody. He has been refused bail and is scheduled to appear in Toronto Local Court today, Tuesday, 10 September 2024.
